Islanders host Roadrunners Wednesday in key Junior B Tier One tilt

The Delta Islanders continue their mini-home stand with a pivotal game Wednesday night against the surging Richmond Roadrunners in the new B.C. Junior “B” Tier One Lacrosse League.

Just four points separate the fourth and ninth place teams and the eighth place Roadrunners are among the hottest with wins in three of their last four games, including a 13-9 triumph on Monday night in Burnaby to improve to 4-7-1.

Ninth place Delta (4-6-0) turned in a solid effort Sunday but still came up short in a 15-12 loss to the league-leading Victoria Shamrocks at the Ladner Leisure Centre. The result spoiled the season debut of Ohio State University commit Mitch Sandberg who managed six points, including a pair of goals.

Isaac Richmond, Joey Debaughn and Cody Hoegg also scored twice. Victor Robichaud, Mitch Godlonton and John Woodward added singles. Ashton LeClair was terrific in net with the Shamrocks enjoying a big advantage in the shots department.

Game time Wednesday is 8 p.m. Delta also hosts Burnaby on Friday.
